It was an eventful weekend in the case of a missing Palm Beach County school nurse.
First, the body found in a Clewiston sugar cane field was confirmed to be that of 49-year old Kimberly Lindsey, who went missing last Monday when she didn't show up at Bak Middle School of the Arts. Then, a probable cause affidavit went out for Lindsey's ex-husband, Albert Lambert.
It all culminated with Lambert's apparent suicide. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Lambert died from a drug overdose.
Law enforcement was outside a Miami home, monitoring Lambert who was inside at the time. Our NewsChannel 5 partners report that officers were waiting to arrest the man when they suddenly saw two people carrying out a body wrapped in a sheet. That turned out to be Lambert's sister and her boyfriend.
Lindsey's blood was found on some of his clothing at the scene of his death. Her blood was also found on a car that was registered to Lambert.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw says they were going to charge him with first degree murder.
The couple was divorced last November, but they were going through contentious court hearings over alimony and child support. Lambert reportedly told a judge in his last court appearance that he would either "disappear or go to jail", before he paid anything.
Crime scene investigators say Lindsey was killed in a violent confrontation at her Palm Beach Gardens home and taken to the field where her body was discovered.
