Local Catholic Community Helps with Typhoon Relief

If you want to help with typhoon relief in the Phillipines, it's a simple as going to church this weekend.

Dianne Laubert with the Diocese of Palm Beach tells us that Catholic churches throughout the area will take special collects during this weekend's masses and that money will be distributed to the people on the ground.

Laubert says the money will be given to Catholic Relief Services, which is "the official international humanitarian agency for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in the United States."

She says CRS is working with other agencies to ensure help gets to those in need.

"They are involved in some emergency shelter kits, emergency household supplies. They are trying to provide water and hygeine and sanitation kits."

Laubert says be sure to bring cash or checks with you to mass this weekend.

If you're not Catholic or not attending church this weekend, you can visit any parish office during regular business hours to pay by credit card, or simply visit the Diocesean website by Clicking Here.
